What is a cookie?

A cookie is a text file that is placed on the hard disk of the user's terminal (computer, tablet, smartphone ...) when the latter consults a website or an advertisement on the internet.

Cookies are used to record information about the user's browsing to facilitate his website consultations and offer him a personalized service. This information is kept during the validity period of the cookie which can be set in the Internet browser (s) on the user's terminal. It can also choose, at any time, to enable or disable cookies in the configuration rules of these applications.

Click on the shield to the left of the address bar and select "Protection Settings". This action opens the "Privacy and Security" panel of Firefox options. Here you have access to the settings of the enhanced protection against tracking, especially those concerning cookies. If "Standard" is selected, it means that you are using the default settings for enhanced tracking protection and that cross-site cookie cookies are blocked.

To allow all cookies, check the "Custom" radio button and uncheck the "Cookies" box.

To delete all cookies and site data when Firefox closes:

  1. Click the menu button and select "Options".
  2. Select the "Privacy and security" panel and go to "Cookies and site data".
  3. Select the "Delete cookies and data from sites when closing Firefox" check box.

Every time you close Firefox, the cookies stored in your computer will be deleted.

  • On Chrome:
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. In the upper right corner, click "More" then "Settings".
  3. At the bottom, click on "Advanced Settings".
  4. In the "Privacy and Security" section, click on "Site Settings" and then "Cookies".
  5. Enable or disable "Allow sites to save / read cookie data".
  • On Safari:
  1. Choose Safari
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click on Privacy
  4. Do one of the following:

To prevent tracking devices from using cookies and web site data to track you: Select "Prevent tracking on multiple domains".

Cookies and website data are removed unless you visit and interact with tracking device websites.

To always block cookies: Select "Block all cookies".

Websites, third parties and advertisers cannot store cookies and other data on your Mac. This can prevent some websites from functioning properly.

To delete stored data and cookies: Click Manage Website Data, select one or more websites, and click Remove or Clear All.

Deleting data can reduce activity tracking, but can also disconnect you from websites or change their behavior.

To see which websites store cookies or data: Click Manage Website Data.

  • On Opera:
  1. In the Opera browser window, click Opera at the top left of the window.
  2. In the drop-down menu, select Settings and then click Preferences ...
  3. In the Preferences window, select the Advanced tab. In the menu on the left, select the Cookies option. Then choose Accept cookies.
  4. Confirm your choices by clicking OK.

Your browser is now configured to accept cookies from the websites you visit.
