If you don’t know what a guinguette is, you soon will in Orleans this summer! The Loire makes the perfect spot to while away lazy summer days.

La Sardine has hit on the magic formula that draws in the crowds every summer to share carefree moments on the banks of the Loire. Loyal patrons, great ambience and fantastic food and drink highlighting local suppliers, what more could you ask for? From 29 May to 1 September, Quai du Châtelet. Read more

Le Boui-Boui is a relaxed hangout popular with locals where you can also enjoy beautiful views of the Loire. A top music selection, reasonable prices, a food menu and excellent service, there’s more than one reason to visit Le Boui-Boui! From 30 April to 30 September, Quai du Fort Alleaume.

La Paillote offers one of the most stunning vistas of Orleans and the islands in the Loire. An open-air cultural centre, La Paillote houses an eatery, games and comfy seating area plus puts on a fantastic programme of music and other events. From 31 May to 22 September, Quai du Prague. Read more


Live music, river cruises on the Loire, special events in connection with the river and traditional boats of the region, the Fête des Mariniers–or sailors’ festival—is happening on 22 and 23 June at Quai du Fort Alleaume. Food and refreshments also available.

On Sunday 14 July, step aboard a traditional passenger boat for an original perspective on the Loire. On Thursday 29 August, the riverside bar La Sardine is hosting an evening dedicated to the stories of sailors and our river.

During the Loire Festival from 18 to 22 September, Orleans will pay homage to its river, organising the biggest gathering of inland vessels in Europe. The celebration on the banks of the royal river is a must. Read more

The Fête des Duits is a multi-disciplinary art festival which brings people together to show the most original and refreshing contemporary and experimental artworks on the scene.



From 19 to 22 June, Jazz à l'Évêché will once again flood the city with the sound of jazz for four days of live music performed by local and international artists at Jardin de l'Évêché.

A major event in the Orleans calendar, Le Grand Unisson or ‘Grand U’ as it’s been dubbed is scheduled on 14 and 15 June in Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle. Every year, Grand U welcomes revellers for the two-day contemporary music festival. Read more

Bringing together 35 groups of all genres performing across five stages in central Orleans, Hop Pop Hop is an emerging music festival scheduled for 13 and 14 September. The multi-venue event promises an epic musical journey around the city centre.  Read more

The enchanted Loire! A cruise rocked by the rhythm of sea shanties makes for an enchanting way to discover the historic sights along the Loire. Friday 26 July, 2 and 23 August at 6.30 pm
Or maybe sampling edible plants on the riverside sounds more tempting? Put 15 June in your diary (3-5 pm) to explore the wild banks of the Loire.

Lots of exciting new events are planned in 2019 such as the floating conference and the Livrodrome!

Jardin de la Charpenterie invites you to spend a fascinating day-out at the Livrodrome, a literature-inspired theme park aimed at teenagers and their families. The event features a programme of fun, creative and arty activities around the world of books. Friday 19 July, 11 am to 7 pm.

Navigate the universe of contemporary artists and architects who have taken a fresh approach to the relationship between water and architecture on a river cruise with a guide from the FRAC Centre-Val de Loire. Saturday 20 July at 11 am and Wednesday 7 August at 6.30 pm.
